FAQs
People often arrive at therapy with questions they're not sure it's alright to ask. These are some of the ones that come up most often, answered as plainly as I can.
-
There is no fixed answer. Some people come with a particular issue they would like to explore over a shorter period, while others prefer more open-ended therapy.
We can review how the work is progressing as we go and decide together what feels right.

The first session is an opportunity to talk about what has brought you to therapy, what you may be hoping for and any questions or concerns you have.
It also gives us both a chance to consider whether working together feels like a good fit. There is no pressure to make an immediate long-term commitment.
-
There isn’t always a simple way to know in advance. The relationship between therapist and client is important, which is why I offer a free introductory call. It gives you a chance to ask questions, get a sense of how I work and consider whether you feel comfortable speaking with me.

Sessions last 50 minutes.

Therapy is usually held once a week, at the same time each week where possible. Regular sessions can help create consistency and momentum, although we can discuss what feels most appropriate for you.
-
Yes. I offer therapy online and face-to-face in London. Online sessions take place by video call, and face-to-face availability is in Streatham, Clapham and Herne Hill. We can discuss what works best for you when you get in touch.
-
If you need to cancel or rearrange a session, I ask for at least 72 hours’ notice. Sessions cancelled with less notice are usually charged at the full fee, except in exceptional circumstances.
-
That’s completely fine. You don’t need to arrive with a clear explanation of what is wrong or a list of things you want to work on. We’ll work together to understand what feels most meaningful to spend time with.
-
Yes. What you share in therapy is treated as confidential. There are some important exceptions, particularly if I am concerned about serious risk of harm or where there is a legal requirement to disclose information. I would always aim to discuss this with you first wherever possible.
