Please read these terms carefully. By using this website you accept them. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site.

About this website

This website is owned and operated by Maxwell Stoner, an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), membership number 01027146. I work in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.

You can contact me at maxstonertherapy@gmail.com.

What this website is for

This website provides general information about my practice and the therapy I offer. It is intended to help you decide whether to get in touch.

Nothing on this site is intended as therapy, medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, and it should not be relied on as a substitute for a consultation with a qualified professional. Reading this website does not create a therapeutic relationship between us. That begins only once we have met and agreed to work together.

This site does not offer crisis support

Enquiries sent through this website are not monitored around the clock, and I may not be able to reply immediately.

If you need urgent help, please contact your GP, call NHS 111, call Samaritans free on 116 123, or dial 999 in an emergency.

Making an enquiry

Submitting a form or sending me a message does not guarantee that I can offer you an appointment. My availability changes, and there may be times when I am not able to take on new clients, or when I feel another practitioner or service would be better suited to what you are looking for. In that case I will say so and, where I can, suggest where else you might look.

Please avoid sending detailed personal or clinical information in a first enquiry. Email cannot be guaranteed completely secure.

Sessions and fees

I offer therapy to adults, online and face to face in London. Sessions last 50 minutes and are usually held weekly.

Current fees are shown on the sessions and fees page. Fees are reviewed periodically and I will give you reasonable notice of any change.

Payment terms, cancellation arrangements, confidentiality and the practical details of how we work together are set out in full in the therapy agreement we discuss and sign before our first session. That agreement, rather than this page, governs our working relationship.

Cancellations

If you need to cancel or rearrange a session, please give as much notice as you can. Sessions cancelled with less than 72 hours' notice are charged in full, as the time has been reserved for you. Full details are in the therapy agreement.

Online sessions

Online sessions are held using a suitable video platform. You are responsible for having a reliable internet connection and for finding a private space where you will not be overheard or interrupted.

No online platform or internet connection can be guaranteed completely secure or uninterrupted, however I use appropriate services to mitigate risk. If a session is disrupted by technical problems, we will do our best to reconnect or rearrange.

Confidentiality

What you share with me is confidential, within the limits explained in my Privacy Policy and set out in full in the therapy agreement. Those limits include clinical supervision, situations where there is a serious risk of harm, and circumstances where the law requires disclosure.

Use of this website

You may view, download and print material from this site for your own personal use. You may not reproduce, republish or use it for commercial purposes without my permission.

All content on this site, including text, images and design, belongs to me or is used with permission, and is protected by copyright.

You agree not to use this site in any way that is unlawful, or that could damage or interfere with it.

Links to other websites

This site may link to other websites and resources. These are provided for information only. I do not control them and am not responsible for their content, accuracy or availability. Including a link does not mean I endorse them.

Accuracy and availability

I aim to keep the information on this site accurate and current, but I do not guarantee that it is complete or error-free. I may change or remove content at any time.

I do not guarantee that the site will always be available or uninterrupted, and I am not liable for it being unavailable at any time.

Liability

Nothing in these terms limits my liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Subject to that, I am not liable for any loss arising from your use of this website or from reliance on information contained in it.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with any aspect of my service, please tell me first so that I have the opportunity to put it right.

If we cannot resolve matters, you can raise a complaint with the BACP through their Professional Conduct Procedure at bacp.co.uk.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

Changes to these terms

I may update these terms from time to time. Any changes will be published on this page with a new date, and will apply from the date they appear.
